The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) strengthens its presence in Africa with the activation of two new offices in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) and Kampala (Uganda). These offices will operate in close coordination with the respective Italian Embassies. The heads of the two new offices are Aldo Cera and Teresa Savanella, experienced cooperation officials with solid professional backgrounds.

With the launch of these two new offices, the AICS international network grows to 20 units, including 10 in Africa, reaffirming the prominent role of Italian Development Cooperation in implementing the “Mattei Plan.” Côte d’Ivoire and Uganda have recently been included among Italy’s priority countries, while Abidjan also hosts the African Development Bank (AFDB), a historic partner of Italian Cooperation, now even more central under Italy’s new Africa strategy.

“With the activation of the AICS offices in Kampala and Abidjan, the Agency strengthens its contribution to the implementation of the Mattei Plan, ensuring an even more widespread presence on the ground. The two new offices, in coordination with the Embassies and other key actors of the Italian System, will facilitate more efficient and faster progress for Italian Cooperation initiatives,” emphasized Marco Riccardo Rusconi, Director of AICS.
