With the intention to build a dialogue with the Italian cooperation stakeholders, it has been organized a first presentation of the Atlas4dev – Atlas for Development platform.

The project managed by AICS – Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and financed by the Agency for Territorial Cohesion (ACT) from the PON Governance and Institutional Capacity 2014-2020 funds, collects with a sistematic approach a series of global development indicators for the qualitative-quantitative strengthening of the knowledge heritage, available for Italian cooperation actors and public institutions that operate in the context of international development.

The meeting was attended by institutional subjects, civil society and cooperation operators and representatives of universities and research centres, to explore the objectives of Atlas4dev, developed to classify all the indicators of the main international sources for dozens of datasets and several thousand indicators according to a common scheme that can lead to data and information processed in a manner relevant to their nature.

The innovations of the platform lie in the complete automation of the updates of the geo-thematic content of the database, as opposed to the current still fragmented offer, the structuring of the data with a view to a common technical scheme, the homogeneous metadating to overcome the heterogeneity of the traditional market trends and the enrichment of the data classification system with many geo-thematic and sectoral interpretations. The intention is to create value for the purposes of related consultation and benefit the technical processing processes.

With the launch of this portal, AICS aims to involve the rich panorama of Italian cooperation in a perspective of analysis and consequent strategic evaluations that could contribute in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
