The 5th National Diaspora Summit was held on Saturday 10 February 2024 at the Antonianum auditorium in Rome. The event is financed by Italian Cooperation as part of the project “Draft the Future! Towards a national diaspora forum“.

Since 2017, this is an annual event which has represented a moment of synthesis and sharing of the work done to build and strengthen diaspora associations in development cooperation. This edition celebrates in particular the significant milestone of the establishment of the Italian Coordination of Diasporas for International Cooperation (CIDCI), a third level organization representing the diasporic associations of nine Italian regions.

The Director Marco Riccardo Rusconi spoke on behalf of AICS with a video statement and Fabio Strinati from the Economic Development office gave a speech. Stefano Gatti, Director General for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was also present and he brought greetings from Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli. Representatives of the institutions reiterated the importance of the value of diasporas in development cooperation and of inclusive and multilevel partnerships.
