On November 25, 2024, in recognition of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and marking the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence global campaign, AICS will host the event “Violence Against Women: Cross-Cutting Gender Equality and Female Empowerment in Development and Humanitarian Action.” The event can be attended in person at the AICS Conference Room on Via Cantalupo in Sabina 29, Rome, or online, upon registration through a provided form.
This initiative aims to raise awareness among implementers of humanitarian and development projects on the importance of combating sexual and gender-based violence by integrating gender equality and empowerment of women, girls, and young women across all development cooperation and humanitarian aid projects, as outlined in the Guidelines on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women, Girls, and Young Women (CICS 2021).
The event will also serve as an opportunity to exchange views on gender equality with prominent experts in the field. Among the speakers will be Dr. Alessandra Accardo, sharing her story as a survivor of sexual violence, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI), AICS, academia, and the OECD DAC.
Registration for the event is available via the Microsoft Virtual Events Platform powered by Teams. Further details on the program will be announced shortly.
