Once again this year, on the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, AICS renews its commitment to gender equality through a campaign highlighting the women who contribute daily to the success of our cooperation efforts and who, with our support, find the courage to make their voices heard.

These voices take center stage in our narrative, as beneficiaries, activists, and collaborators share the progress achieved and the challenges ahead in the development and humanitarian projects implemented in partner countries.

This year, our stories will take us on a journey through the intersectionality of gender and disability, reflecting the “leave no one behind” approach that AICS integrates into all its initiatives. Alongside these women, we will cross conflict zones and witness their contributions to peacebuilding. We will read about successful projects, made possible through the efforts of our foreign offices and Italian civil society organizations, which have helped women regain protection, assistance, self-esteem, and independence.

Additionally, we will highlight some of the campaigns launched at the local level by AICS foreign offices in celebration of International Women’s Day. As always, these initiatives are organized in close collaboration with local institutions and communities, with whom AICS works daily to promote gender equality, education, women’s economic empowerment, and the prevention and fight against gender-based violence.

This will be a small journey, offering just a glimpse of the daily commitment we uphold through numerous funded initiatives in support of gender equality. The data from the past year reflects AICS’s ongoing efforts to support women, girls, and young girls: 25 newly funded initiatives have prioritized gender equality (Gender Marker G2), with a total investment exceeding 70 million euros.
