The Hanoi office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) has published the “Call for Proposal Aid 012884/01/0 – Emergency and Early Recovery Intervention in the sectors of Food Security and Livelihoods, Health, and Education to Strengthen the Resilience Capacity of Vulnerable Populations in Myanmar”, with a total budget of 1,300,000 Euros available for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

The call comes just days after the devastating earthquake that struck the country on March 28, affecting communities already deeply impacted by the ongoing civil conflict that has ravaged Myanmar for the past four years.

The action of Civil Society Organizations is a key component of the global response to the humanitarian emergency in Myanmar, further exacerbated by the recent catastrophic earthquake. Italian CSOs are on the front line, supported by their long-standing experience and presence in the country. Through this call, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) reaffirms its support for their efforts, as part of a broader Italian commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis and providing aid and resilience to the Burmese population, stated the Italian Head of Mission to Myanmar, Nicolò Tassoni Estense.

The initiative aims to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance to the most at-risk populations, including women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, while also strengthening resilience and access to basic services, particularly in the areas of food security, health, and education.

This initiative seeks to support the Burmese population, deeply affected by a severe crisis with multiple dimensions, made worse by the recent earthquake. It does so through the concrete actions of civil society, in order to effectively respond to the increasingly urgent humanitarian needs,” declared Dr. Margherita Lulli, Head of the AICS Office in Hanoi.

The deadline for submitting applications is May 8, 2025, at 6:00 PM Hanoi time (GMT +7). To view the full call for proposals, click HERE.
