Kenyan coffee, renowned worldwide for its exceptional quality, once again takes center stage at the International Exhibition for Artisan Gelato, Pastry, Bakery, and Coffee (SIGEP) 2025 in Rimini.

Thanks to the support of the Italian Cooperation through the “ARABIKA” initiative, seven representatives from Kenyan coffee producers’ cooperatives are participating in this prestigious international event, aiming to strengthen commercial ties with Italian and global operators.

Since 2021, ARABIKA, an initiative backed by Italy via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), has supported smallholder coffee producers in Kenya.

The participation of Kenyan cooperatives at SIGEP 2025 includes a series of activities to highlight the unique qualities of Kenyan coffee and foster strategic collaborations. Among the highlights is a visit to a coffee roasting facility near Bologna, where Kenyan farmers will have the chance to explore Italian technologies and operational standards in the industry.

Two key events stand out during the exhibition:

  1. A guided tasting session (January 20, 4:00 PM – 4:45 PM at the “Sustainability District”) showcasing origin brands developed with Italian support.
  2. A high-level event focusing on collaboration between Italy and its partner countries (January 21, 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM at the “Vision Plaza”). This session features Marco Riccardo Rusconi, AICS Director; Lorenzo Galanti, Director of the Italian Trade Agency (ICE/ITA); and Anthony Muriithi, Agricultural Attaché at the Kenyan Embassy in Italy.

This initiative not only highlights the excellence of Kenyan coffee but also underscores the vital role of Italian-Kenyan collaboration in fostering sustainable and inclusive growth in the coffee sector.
