It was concluded the institutional mission to Algeria which saw the participation of the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, and the Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, Marco Riccardo Rusconi.
As part of the visit, the AICS Director met Major General Abed Hallouz, head of the Algerian International Cooperation Agency for Solidarity and Development. The meeting allowed to share the experiences of the two cooperation agencies and to analyze possible opportunities for collaboration on the topics of professional training, health, water and agriculture. Potential countries for possible collaborations are Mauritania, Niger and Burkina Faso, in the area of Sahel, a priority region for Italian cooperation and where the Algerian agency is present with some initiatives.
“The collaboration with an African country which invests in cooperation outside its borders is perfectly consistent with the equal partnership approach that inspires the Mattei Plan,” is the reflection brought by Director Marco Riccardo Rusconi.
During the mission, the Deputy Minister Cirielli and Director Rusconi visited the “Roma” international school, the Bastion 23 monument, restored with Italian Cooperation funds, and the garden dedicated to Enrico Mattei.
