In Padua, for the conference organized by Medici con l’Africa CUAMM, “Research for Quality Health Cooperation: Experiences, Evidence and Perspectives from Africa“, the Director Marco Riccardo Rusconi represented AICS: the event was conceived to encourage dialogue between international bodies, institutions, donors, universities and direct beneficiaries of interventions with the aim of improving health for all in Africa.
“Cooperating in the health sector in Africa means pursuing the great objectives of Italian Development Cooperation, namely eradicating poverty and reducing inequalities, improving the living conditions of populations, promoting sustainable development, protecting and affirming human rights, the dignity of the individual, and gender equality. Our approach is that of Global Health, which leads us to support partner countries in the creation of global health coverage, to improve global health security – with a vision that embraces the sectors of health, the natural environment and also livestock – to strengthen local health systems and structures, not only at a national but also regional and above all community level,” was part of Director Rusconi’s speech. “We also encourage cooperation in the field of health that also incorporates a dimension of research and innovation, the same that CUAMM pursues. One of the platforms of the Partnership for Knowledge programme, financed by the Agency and aimed at Italian universities and their partners in partner countries, is dedicated to healthcare and WASH (water, hygiene, sanitisation). With this tool we have made it possible to provide 9 master’s degree and 12 doctorate scholarships, the latter with an exquisitely research focus.”
