Women at the Heart of Food Sovereignty and Biodiversity Conservation at COP16

Organized by the European Union's Programa de Desarrollo Rural con Enfoque Territorial (DRET II) in Colombia, AICS Bogotá's South America Office, FAO, and Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia, with support from AICS Havana, the event showcased the experiences of women from Colombia and Cuba who shared their transformative work in sustainable futures.

Italian Agency for Development Cooperation at COP16 in Cali

Italy plays a key role at the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the Convention on Biodiversity, held in Cali, Colombia, from October 21st to November 1st. ICS has organized or co-organized 14 events across both COP zones. Among the highlights is the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the “Amazon Without Fire” (PASF) Program, initiated in 1999 through a bilateral agreement between Italy and Brazil.

40 Years of the Keita Integrated Project: Celebrating Continued Italy-Niger Cooperation

A special event was held in Niamey to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Keita Integrated Project, a landmark in the longstanding cooperation between Italy and Niger. The conference, titled "40 Years of the Keita Project: Italy and Niger, A Story That Continues," took place as part of the Italy-Niger Day celebrations, where numerous Italian and Nigerien authorities gathered to reflect on the importance and lasting impact of this pioneering initiative.

Ukraine: Educational Hub for Students and Population Affected by the Conflict, Established with Italian Cooperation

This project is part of the Emergency Initiative aimed at supporting populations affected by the conflict in Ukraine and neighboring countries, with a total funding of €46.5 million from Italian Cooperation.

Active Learning to Implement Global Citizenship Education

AICS has supported the growth of this initiative by financing two key projects: the first, through the 2019 Global Citizenship Education (GCE) Call for Proposals, extended the Green School network throughout the Lombardy Region; and the second, through the 2021 GCE Call, brought the Green School model to four additional Italian regions (Lazio, Tuscany, Valle d'Aosta, and Sardinia, along with Lombardy).

HARD: Rural Development and Food Security in Rome

Initiated by the European Commission’s DG INTPA, HARD is a principal informal mechanism for coordinating agro-food system transformation efforts among the Commission and its Member States. Since 2020, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), through its Office VI, has been an active participant in HARD to discuss DG INTPA’s work on rural development and food security.

Italy Supports the Creation of EXPO Albania in Tirana

A feasibility study for the Tirana Exhibition Center, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and conducted by the University of Verona in collaboration with Verona Fiere and the Albanian Investment Corporation (AIC), was recently presented to a broad audience. The study outlines the macroeconomic context, business model, financial plan, management and operational strategy, and offers recommendations for launching EXPO Albania.
