Inauguration of Tanzania’s ‘Emergency Operation and Communication Center’ Situation Room – a step to advancing ‘Early Warnings for All’
The event marked a milestone in the country's journey towards building disaster resilience and was welcomed by supporters of the EOCC Situation Room, including the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), which over two years provided technical support for its establishment, in partnership with the CIMA Foundation and with generous funding from the Government of Italy, through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
AICS present at the Ukraine Recovery Conference
With the passing of the baton to Italy, symbolically taken up by the Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli, for the organization of the next edition of the conference, the Agency will intensify its commitment, with the decisive contribution of its headquarters in Kiev, for a even more extensive and effective cooperation and partnership.

The AICS headquarters in Rome hosted the presentation of Flowing Futures, the Atlas on access and availability of water at a global level and the consequences for human rights published by WeWorld, the independent Italian organization involved for more than 50 years with development cooperation and humanitarian aid projects
Biodiversity safeguarding and eco-tourism promotion in Gilgit-Baltistan
During 4 days of mission, the Minister of Tourism of GB Region and Representatives from GB Department for Wildlife and Parks accompanied AICS delegation, offering insights about the work jointly delivered with IUCN and local communities, addressing project’s ownership in partnership with villagers and quality accountability by local partners, methodological pillars of the Italian Cooperation in Pakistan.

Strengthening Early Warning and Early Action Systems in Kenya
Funded by Italian Cooperation with an investment of 1.5 million Euros and implemented by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the initiative aims to improve Kenya's resilience against natural disasters. Since 2020, with the support of UNDRR and the African Union, several regional initiatives have been implemented. Among other achievements, these initiatives have enabled the operationalization of the African Multi-Hazard Early Warning and Action System, the first continental-scale warning system for catastrophic phenomena.
Research for a quality healthcare cooperation
In Padua, for the conference organized by Medici con l'Africa CUAMM, "Research for Quality Health Cooperation: Experiences, Evidence and Perspectives from Africa", the Director Marco Riccardo Rusconi represented AICS: the event was conceived to encourage dialogue between international bodies, institutions, donors, universities and direct beneficiaries of interventions with the aim of improving health for all in Africa.

The mission concluded with a visit to the Agency's headquarters where the delegates shared their first reflections on the experience they had in Italy. Digitalisation represents a strategic front for AICS and, in particular, for the foreign office in Maputo, active on numerous project paths.
Information on foreign affairs: the presentation of the report “Illuminare le Periferie”
The nine sub-Saharan African countries defined as priorities for Italian Cooperation reached 180 stories in the news in 2023, recording a significant increase of 400% compared to the 36 news stories in 2021. However, some of these countries remain in the shadow, receiving only occasional coverage by the Italian media.
GENE and AICS: a shared commitment to Global Citizenship Education
The Global Education Network Europe (GENE) is the network of Ministries and Government Agencies of 25 European countries, of which Italy is a member, with the main aim of connecting, stimulating discussion and dialogue between countries on the subject of Global Citizenship Education.
