On December 3rd it has been celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The theme for 2023 is “United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities”. This date continues to represent a stimulus for reflection on the state of the rights of people with disabilities, with the aim of guaranteeing their full participation in political, economic, social and cultural life.
The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation supports projects in the sector in 35 countries, for a budget that represents 8% of the total funding donated by AICS. With the collaboration of local authorities, international organizations, universities and civil society, this commitment materializes year after year in breaking down the various barriers that hinder the exercise of rights.
The video, created in collaboration with CBM, AIFO, EDUCAID, CISP and RIDS, illustrates some of the interventions carried out in various countries. The activities range between human rights, health, work inclusion, food safety, female empowerment, training, sport and art with the aim of building increasingly inclusive and democratic societies.
