Cooperation with the Republic of Congo was at the center of today’s talks between the Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, Marco Riccardo Rusconi, and the Ambassador to Italy, Henri Okemba.

The Ambassador expressed great appreciation for the hydraulic project planned within the framework of the Mattei Plan in collaboration with ENI, which has already seen the construction and rehabilitation of wells powered by photovoltaic panels, benefiting around 25,000 people. He then highlighted the development priority of his country, which is the strengthening of the still fragile private sector through partnerships between Italian and Congolese SMEs, for example in the fields of agri-food system transformation, tourism, wood and mineral processing industries.

Director Rusconi recalled how the Agency, also driven by the Mattei Plan, has already equipped itself to interact and engage in a thorough and structured manner with local authorities, assigning the territorial competence of Congo to the AICS Office in Niamey, whose Director recently carried out a comprehensive reconnaissance mission in the country.
